A large part of treatment outcome is dependent on patient compliance/adherence to the treatment plan. Clinicians make plans and recommendations with best intentions for the well-being of patient’s conditions - Are patients seeing/receiving it the same way? Come explore together, what might make patient education (counselling) more effective and how we can apply these in a clinical setting.
Marabelle graduated with a Bachelor of Podiatry from the University of South Australia (2008) and Masters by Research from Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2015). She practiced at Singapore General Hospital (Principal Podiatrist), a high-volume acute hospital, for 13 years before relocating back to Adelaide. Marabelle's clinical expertise are biomechanics, orthopaedic rehabilitation and nail surgery. Her research interests include assessment methods, hypermobility, value in healthcare and clinical communication. Her research has been supported by Singapore General Hospital and National Medical Research Council grants. Marabelle was elected President of Podiatry Association Singapore for 3 terms from 2015 to 2021. She also held position of project administrator in the Chief Allied Health Office Singapore. Through her clinical-research-management portfolio, she shaped professional guidelines and influenced best practices such as resource optimisation through elimination of low value care. She is now pursuing her PhD back at UniSA. In her own time, Marabelle enjoys being outdoors and walking with her family.
