Presentation Title:

What are the musculoskeletal conditions that impact on physical activity participation in kids and adolescents?

Presentation Overview:

Common musculoskeletal condition burden is frequently reported for adults. This data is often used to determine national health priorities and identify the impact these conditions have on health and wellbeing. However, there is comparatively little evidence helping us understand the burden of common paediatric musculoskeletal conditions, especially in the general and non-elite sporting community.

Physical activity and meeting current guidelines for participation is important for children and teenager’s optimal overall health and wellbeing. This makes it important to understand how these musculoskeletal conditions may impact participation. This presentation will describe what musculoskeletal conditions impact on physical activity participation in children and teenagers as reported in the literature, and where the deficits in knowledge lie.
