PROF BRETT MITCHELL

An exploration of key infection control principles will be briefly discussed, followed by case studies exploring real life evidence based examples of infection prevention in practice. The good, bad and ugly side of infection prevention will be exposed, with opportunities to improve practice and reduce risks for both patients and healthcare workers explored.
Professor Brett Mitchell is an internationally recognised researcher in the area of infection prevention and control. He has extensive clinical nursing experience as well as strong academic and research skills. As an academic and researcher, Prof Mitchell has over 150 peer reviewed journal and oral conference presentations, authored several books, and has been an invited speaker at numerous infection prevention and control conferences in Australia and internationally.
Brett is currently working at Avondale University in NSW in the role of Professor of Health Services Research and Nursing with other appointments at the Central Coast Local Health District, Monash University and the Hunter Medical Research Institute. Brett is Editor-in-Chief of Infection, Disease and Health and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control.
