JOHN ARNOLD

University of South Australia

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia where I coordinate Biomechanics of Human Movement and Sports Biomechanics. I am a steering committee member for the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity Research Centre (ARENA). Prior to my current position I held a CJ Martin Research Fellowship in musculoskeletal biomechanics at the University of Leeds, funded by the National Health & Medical Research Council.

My main streams of research broadly relate to clinical and sports biomechanics for improving health and human performance. My current work in clinical populations focuses on the relationship between biomechanical and clinical features of midfoot osteoarthritis using MRI. I currently supervise PhD and Masters students working in areas such as physical performance testing in AFLW athletes, wearable sensors, and footwear biomechanics.

I have published and shared my work widely in scientific journals and at international and national conferences. I also strongly value collaboration and finding solutions for end users, and my current projects with industry partners are focused on innovations in athletic footwear development.
