TANYA HOSCH

Learning to Walk Again, with Judgement and Confidence

Tanya will share her challenges and experiences, both positive and negative, on the shock diagnosis of Charcot foot, a condition she had never heard of before.  The story provides insight to her experiences of an Indigenous woman with type 2 diabetes and the many many health interventions from choosing a foot reconstruction to ultimately having a lower right leg amputation and then the rehab process to physical recovery to life with a prosthesis.  Tanya tells it how it is and was, with respect for all of the support and reflections of moments where she felt anything but supported and culturally safe.
