STREAM: Podiatric Medicine & Diagnosis
Calling all endorsed podiatrists, mentors, mentees and those interested in endorsement! This workshop will be presented in an interactive format focused on case based prescribing discussions. Topics will include the broader application of injectable corticosteroids, selective vs non-selective NSAIDs, shorts vs long acting LA, review of the use of Methoxyflurane and more. Time will be allocated for Q&A and group discussion will be encouraged.
This workshop will contribute valuable time to your endorsement CPD requirements. It will also provide direction with further education, quality improvement activities, self reflective practice and post workshop self directed learning.

Dr Dean Samaras is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons (ACPS). He is an AHPRA registered specialist Podiatric Surgeon and is endorsed by the Podiatry Board of Australia to prescribe scheduled medicines.
Dean is a resourceful and experienced practitioner and provides tailored care for each of his patients. He provides specialist consulting and surgical services in metropolitan and regional Victoria. He recognises the importance of both conservative and surgical options when treatment planning. Wherever possible he focuses on the least invasive surgical methods to reduce pain and encourage early return to activity and function.
Dean is an Adjunct Lecturer at La Trobe University and is involved in the teaching and development of undergraduate podiatric surgery, local anaesthesia and pharmacology. He has a long history as a clinical examiner, supervisor of students on clinical placements and mentor for podiatrists undertaking their endorsement pathway. Dean has published research in prominent peer reviewed foot and ankle journals. His main research topics have included minimal incision foot surgery, hallux rigidus and soft tissue pathology. He is a trustee of the Australian Podiatry Education and Research Foundation (APERF) with the aim of advancing research into the causes, prevention and treatment of foot problems. He maintains a strong commitment to promotion and broader integration of podiatric medicine and surgery within the Australian healthcare system.
Dean lives in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Williamstown and participates in the local life saving club programs. He loves coffee, all things bbq and most of all his wife and 2 children.
