Podiatrist

Sportsmed (Foot and Ankle Team)

Presentation: Don’t Test? Don’t Know... The Power of Objective Strength Assessments.

Within the area of orthopedic and sport rehabilitation of the foot and ankle,  standardized assessment and rehab protocols can be an area that lacks defined objectives and outcomes. The use of functional based milestones should be front of mind rather than standardized timeframes.  The use of recent technology including force plates and handheld dynamometry, can play an integral part in standardizing, personalizing, and at times  fast tracking rehabilitation.

What excites you about this presentation?
How to rehabilitate post operative and conservative Achilles tendon rupture using Force plate assessments to stage progression of load.

What do you wish more podiatrists understood about the topic you will cover?
The role of Podiatry in orthopedic recovery and removing the stigma of other disciplines such as physiotherapy and exercise physiology being the only professions who can work in the rehabilitation space.
