No one wants to be 'old' for longer than they need to, but rather, we all want to be young for as long as possible! What we do with our physical activity can have a huge impact on how long we can remain 'young' and continue to do the things we love into our later years. This presentation will clearly outline what the evidence shows should be our focus to not only maintain our physical capacity into our later years, but also keep the diseases of ageing at bay.
What excites you about this presentation?
As Health Professionals one of our biggest challenges is to motivate our clients to adopt quality health behaviours over the long term. This presentation shows a clinical approach, used in private practice, with real clients, to achieve exactly that!
What do you wish more podiatrists understood about the topic you will cover?
The prescription of physical activity to clients is often difficult. Part of the reason is that the benefits are not often felt in the short term. In fact, they can be viewed as very distant in time. And the pain of implementing it is often immediately felt. In addition, our clients are often busy, so the advice needs to be efficient to be effective, which is a difficult thing to achieve if exercise prescription is not your primary scope! This presentation will overcome many of these barriers to help you motivate your clients and patients to greater health!
